SHARON LEWIS

What began as a means of personal release in 1993 with the band Under The Gun has blossomed in the new millennium as one of Chicago’s hottest Blues acts.  Sharon Lewis (Texas Fire) has opened for or performed with such artists as Koko Taylor, Son Seals, Denise LaSalle, Robben Ford, Coco Montoya, Billy Branch, Melvin Taylor, and Sugar Blue to name only a few.

In 1995, she recorded on the Delmark label with Johnny B. Moore as one of the “Women of Blues Chicago” (unreleased).  She went on to play in all of Chicago’s major Blues clubs, including Kingston Mines, Buddy Guy’s Legends, Rosa’s, Blue Chicago, Famous Dave’s (now Isaac Hayes), and Blues.  She has also performed at the Greek Festival and The Moos & Blues Festival in Darien, Wisconsin.

Her first major international tour occurred in1998 when she fired up the Czech Republic, Germany, Luxembourg, France, Holland and Belgium with The Next Generation Band.  During this tour she recorded with Carl Wyatt (Living In Exile:  Singing The Blues) on Blue Road Records, Luxembourg.

After a one year hiatus from performing, she returned in 2001 to open with Billy Branch & The Sons of The Blues at Chicago’s Rooster Blues.  She immediately reclaimed her status as one of Chicago’s next generation Blues vocalists!

In March 2001 (the “Best Tour”) she returned to Europe for an extensive Czech Republic toured where she again received rave reviews and was the “Vocalist of the Month” in Liberca, Czech Republic.  Highly acclaimed reviews for this toured garnered a 2002 Tour (the “Very Best Tour”) with a revamped Next Generation Band Jan Korinek and GROOVE.  With GROOVE she toured extensively in the Czech Republic and Poland.  There they opened for Robben Ford and also captured equal billing status with him and Michael Urbniak (New York) in a 2 day Festival in the Czech Republic.

She has primarily performed with The Mojo Kings for the past five years at such venues as Pop’s Highwood, Slice of Chicago, and Orazio’s.  In September 2002 she received a Reader’s Critic’s Choice” commendation.  Her first solo CD is in the works with a Summer 2003 projected release.

A 2003 Tour (“The Very Best Ever Tour”) is scheduled for November 2003 with Groove.  This tour will encompass the Czech Republic, Hungary, Romania, Slovakia and Poland.
